Artist History Nicole Varga (also known as "Niche") was born in Detroit in 1980. She grew up in Roseville and Saint Clair Shores. When Nicole was young she wanted to play guitar, but grabbed hold of the violin when she heard it. Nicole’s interest has always been music and performing. Nicole has studied her instrument since she was little. She received her Bacholer of Music in Performance degree from Wayne State U (Detroit, Mi.)in 2002. One of her big influences aside from all the classical violin music is Stephane Grappelli (a jazz violinist who played with Django Reinhardt). "I've always wanted to play with a singer/songwriter. Anthony Retka (also known as "Tone") is a self taught guitar player and vocalist who heard a Beatles record when he was a kid and decided that was it. Anthony was born in Detroit in 1980. He grew up in a small city outside of Detroit called Mount Clemens. In Middle school and high school Anthony played percussion. As his interests peeked with percussion, so did his interests in guitar and writing music. When he met Nicole he decided that she would be a good sound to have in the songs he wrote. Anthony has always wanted to do more than song writing. Niche was the "tutor" Tone was looking for. She has helped Anthony learn the trick to music theory and he hopes to someday write movie scores aside from playing folk, blues and rock tunes. Anthony has recently found interest in 20's and 30's jazz and is taking guitar classes at the Mount Clemens arts Consortium. He also attended a class at the M.C.A.C. on Songwriting and promotion. Anthony's dream is to write and record music for the rest of his life. “This is all I've ever wanted to do. It's slowly, but surely coming together.
