Artist History
Currently based out of California,
underground electronica duo Cherry Bikini are
Sophie Boscallini and Armand Abagliani.
Sophie was born in a small mountain
village near the French-Italian border, and grew
up all over Europe. At the age of fourteen she
was discovered by a talent scout, and left home
to pursue a modeling career in Milan, then
Paris. At the age of seventeen she switched
gears to train as an actress, eventually
developing a passion for singing while working
in a musical theater in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
When she returned to Paris, she met Armand
Abagliani (aka. Armand Van Halen/ Armand Van
Nuys). Juggling careers as a cab driver,
bouncer, and professional dancer, Armand has
always found time to write great songs. He
started off playing in blues bars in his native
Louisiana, then in piano bars in Lausanne,
Switzerland, before settling in Paris for
several years.
Cherry Bikini's music is catchy, raw, and
fun. Recorded mostly in Armand's apartment
in Paris, the songs are edgy, walking a fine
line between confidence and desperation - very
different from much of what's out there. The
duo recently released their debut CD on a
label they co-manage called Clear Blue Records.
