    Artist History
Chris Hickey and Brandon Shantz met in the fall of 1998 at a local youth group. They shared some common musical tastes and began playing together at Chris' house on a fairly regular basis. This came and went for about a year and half until their mutual friend Colin decided he would pick up the guitar and while also fiddling around on his brother’s drum kit. In the following six months, Brandon and Chris saw Colin progress quickly on guitar and felt the right move was to ask him to jam and eventually join the band. at the turn of 2001 things had cooled a bit with the current 3-piece and the band became partially forgotten until Chris sparked a friendship with a friend from school named Mike Tilley. Mike had been playing drums for most of his life and had recently parted ways with a since disbanded punk band called “Ben’s Aggression.” Mike offered his services after hearing of Chris’ problem of finding someone and the four of them started jamming together. Brandon and Colin had written a song some months before (a song that is still referred to as “the first song”) and introduced it at their first practice together. Mike’s Chemistry with the band seemed so natural they didn’t feel a need to jam with anyone else. They continued to jam on a weekly basis at a Church late at night until the neighbors began complaining and they were without a place to play. They eventually settled into Chris’ basement and could begin having practice any time his parents weren’t around. Each members current music tastes at the time were quite diverse with Brandon liking mostly punk and emo, Chris listening to blues and classic rock, Colin liking Hendrix and Kravitz, and Mike liking punk, hip hop and various other styles. In June of 2002 they played their first show as a four song set for a group of friends in Chris' basement but didn't play again until Brandon's birthday party in late July after writing several more songs. With a small turnout and Chris getting heat stroke they were slightly discouraged but went on to bigger things playing in front of the day camp they counseled at which consisted of hundreds of children aged 6 to 14. By October of 2002 they became frustrated with the lack of shows in the area and decided to start doing their own. This enabled them to decide what bands they wanted to play with, when they would get to go on, as well as make a bit of money to support recording costs etc. in late November, after tightening up as a band and establishing a unique sound they rented a digital 8 track and recorded 5 songs over the course of a weekend, which would later be named “Armiger Sessions." Bradwell has given the four guys an amazing opportunity to grow as musicians and as friends, and has given them a reason to get up in the morning. With a 5 song that they're proud of and plans for a self-produced 10 song full length in January, the four guys sincerely believe in what they're doing and hope to continue playing together for years to come.
