Artist description
Vessela Stoyanova is an active freelance marimbist, percussionist and composer in the New England area.
A graduate of the National Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria and Berklee College of Music, Vessela combines the world of classical and contemporary music with ease.
In the Summer of 2000 she co-founded the Balkan Fusion band .WAV - a highly innovative and original project inluding 7 musicians from 5 different countries, combining a vast variety of styles. Their first CD "Oneiros" was released on "Trojan Horse Productions" in the spring of 2001.
Vessela is an active member of "The Human Connection", a Boston based group of composers producing an all-original concert twice a year.
She has been seen in the productions of the American Repertory Theatre "The Bacchae" and "Antigonie", as well as the Tempest Productions' "EAT!", where she performed all original, all percussion scores in accompaniment to the live performance.
Her film credits include scoring the short film "Godfoot" by D.Franklin, a nominee at the Boston Underground Film Festival.
Vessela's newest project FLUTTR features the MIDI Marimba Lumina and the original music of composer/guitarist Troy Kidwell. She is also part of Marimbira - an Afro-pop group known for its complex rhythmic structures and original interpretation of traditional music from across the African continent.
All of Vessela's projects can be seen in the club scene of New York and New England as well as on the Net. |
