Artist History Quip is the love child between three of Streetsville Secondary School's older bands: Super Man Charlie, Amentia and 6 Cents. They formed for a talent show in the 2001-2002 school year. The original members were Scott Cameron (SMC), Ryan Tromba (Amentia), Nic Schulze (SMC), Josh Machado (6 Cents) and Dan Slater (SMC + Amentia). Winning their first battle of the bands totally helped the group's confidence in their performing, and encouraged them to stay together. Later that year, James Rowan replaced Nic Schulze, Josh Machado left the band, and Jeff Yung was added onto the roster as back-up singer and break dancer. The school year ended and the boys signed up for a battle of the bands contest with the label Supernova. The event was a success as the boys drew a very large crowd for their first professional battle. The day was followed by performances by bands such as Tuulie, LiveOnRelease and Bif Naked. The boys continued playing for Supernova, at such Toronto venues as The Kathedral, The Opera House and The Rockit. Recently, the band has been rumored to have been planning on making a third demo sometime this summer.
