Audience
Some of Volya’s audience members may also enjoy and listen to the music of several of these artists (Moby, Tori Amos, The Cardigans, Beck, Air, Daft Punk, Dido, Tricky, etc). Many feel that the artist Volya will be lucrative and well suited for a Canadian, European, Asian, and overseas market.
Volya's (pronounced Voy-ah) voice is absolutely hypnotic. She has a vocal sound similar to Sarah Mclachlan, Bjork, and Mazzy Star, and her music and lyrics range from the uptempo pop of Veruca Salt to the introspective moodiness of Tori Amos. |

Artist History
Experience past, present, future.
Volya began exploring, perusing music at a very young age. By nine years of age she began recording her first songs and falling in love with everything music related. The first recording Volya ever attempted won her a FACTOR grant, the rest is history. At this time, Volya also began performing both music and the art of belly dancing in her home town of Edmonton Alberta.
Working at a consistent rate Volya began writing and recording at various studios around Edmonton as well as exploring various music styles that included R&B, Pop, and Electronica.
By the age of 18, with nearly a decade of recording and writing experience under her belt, Volya caught the attention of Grammy nominated producer Tommy Marolda (produced soundtrack for “Staying Alive”, “Cher”, “Richie Sambora” etc). Soon after, Volya was off to New Jersey where a three song demo was born as a result of the collaboration between Marolda, Volya, and songwriter Stephanie Baziuk. Marolda, Stephanie’s, and Volya’s song “Stay Awake” was later featured on the soundtrack “Monkey Magic”, a compilation CD used for a popular Asian video game and cartoon television show. The demo went on to generate possibilities and interest from several major record labels as well as other producers and industry pro’s.
By age 19 Volya was discovered by producers Rob and Heather Hoffman, known for their work with well known artists such as Micheal Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Hole, and countless others www.elicitmusic.com
Between the ages of 20 to present, Volya has continued to write and record with Rob and Heather Hoffman traveling several times a year to work at the Hoffman studio in L.A.
In the spring of 2001 Volya discovered samples of collaborator Mick Turner’s music (/artists/110/thepilot.html) while browsing the internet. She immediately heard potential in Mick’s quirky music and the two began a writing and collaborating partnership.
Between spring 2001 to present Mick and Volya have written dozens of songs as well as developed a style and image that is truly unique and beautiful, yet accessible. Volya and Mick have also attracted an eclectic blend of audience through their local performances and appearances.
Volya continues to write and record with both Hoffman and Mick Turner and is determined to find a larger audience through proper production, direction, and assistance of a Record Label.
