Artist description
An Atlanta band that combines rock and funk with the artistry of hard-edged rap vocals.UG is a true fusion of the two poles of rock and rap and is definitely the exception to the rule.As wildly theatrical as they are musicians they are just as much fun to watch as listen. |

Artist History
Urban Grind started in 1992 before rap/rock was the hot bed that it now is. Experimenting with different sounds, and styles over the years...UG finally zeroed in on what is now a power-trio with 3 MC's and 1 DJ. Urban Grind has shared the stage with Kid Rock, Beastie Boys, Sevendust, Corey Glover, and even Bare Naked Ladies and Blues Traveler on the HORDE Festival Tour. |

Press Reviews
Reprinted From Juice Magazine - Sounds, Surf, & Skate When you see these guys on MTV, remember that you read about them here first. There are so many people in this band that they resemble a parade. A crew of six band members with two hot female backup singers, these guys could get the party started at the national GOP conventon. The lead singer , Vincent "Woodstock" Gideon, walked around with a UPC tag on his chin all day. Anyone within a 10-foot radius of him got to hear the spontaneous sermon of why we should boycott the UPC code system. The funny thing is that people listened and appeared to be inspired. His charisma is alive on stage and bounces off the circus of talent. Their CD is the pimp-daddy of "hipadelic funk." Songs like "Crack Cocaine" send a message that the pipe dream is a waste of time. The chorus, "Please, please give me more shit," captures the pathetic crack jones. The master of beats, DJ Hurricane of the Beastie Boys is the man behind the turntables. The combination of DJ Hurricane and the thick instrumentation has a powerful effect on the eardrum. This cast of characters will be the trendsetters of our immediate future. Their new CD is already in the works with Living Colours's Corey Glover singing on Urban Grind's "Sometimes" track. -Written by Lisa Hill |
