Artist description
Trail Dust sprang from a desire to reclaim traditional Western and folk songwriting amidst a popular turn toward rhythm and blues-oriented country. A chronological song cycle about the struggles of pioneer life, a snapshot ... gains its unique sound from the combination of Bob Wlos' expressive pedal steel and crooning vocals, and Barry McCann's thematic lyrics and big acoustic guitars. |

Group Members
Bob Wlos, widely reputed for his engineering and musical ear, produced five critically acclaimed studio albums with South Florida supergroup Rooster Head.Prior, he recorded and produced The Bobs and The Silos at L-7, both of which included Bob Rupe of pop rock hit Cracker. Arranging, engineering, mixing, mastering and producing on the Trail Dust project, Wlos also played acoustic and electric guitars, bass, pedal steel, mandolin and banjo. Lyricist / songwriter Barry McCann found inspiration for the Trail Dust songs while living in Central Texas and completing an M.A. in English Literature. While there, he played percussion for D'Javaheads, a top area blues band and taught private lessons. Later, he joined Rooster Head and helped Wlos mix and master the band's final record. On Trail Dust, McCann also arranged, recorded, mixed, mastered and produced alongside Wlos, as well as played drums and acoustic guitars. |
