Artist description Tjolk is a Dutch heavy rock band from Rotterdam. The main objective is to have fun while playing our music. One of the basic assumptions of the band is that you can write and play good music and still can make fun of yourself and others at the same time. Writing and playing serious music, having a lot of fun and not being serious while playing are three seperate things. We can only stick to these principles because this is just the way it happens. Shall we take outselves seriously? No we won't! The music the band produces is a mixture of various musical styles, mainly heavy rock and metal. We try to keep our music as experimental as possible in a world where everything seems to have been at least once before. Various techniques to write the music are being use. One being the cut & paste method, now widely used and accepted everywhere in the music business today. Standardization and integration of musical ideas so to speak. Shall we take our music seriously? Yes we will!

Artist History Tjolk was formed in july 1997 and was the product of the merger of the two bands Tjolk's Curse and Board of Bob. Both bands were operating in Brielle, Spijkenisse, Rotterdam and surroudings in The Netherlands. Tjolk's Curse won the 'Grote Prijs van Spijkenisse' talentscouting in augusts 1990 and the 'Grote Prijs van de Albrandswaard' talentscouting in may 1997. Board of Bob got to the final of the 1995 'Grote Prijs van Spijkenisse' talentscouting and fought its way into the final of the ' Grote Prijs van Hellevoetsluis (Watersnoot)' talentscouting in august 1996. This indicates that both bands were able and committed to compete with the competition in the region for the last years.
