Press Reviews
Hometown: Nashville, Tennessee, US Thornbirds record songs in the tradition of cosmic American music. This Nashville trio's warm high-lonesome vocal harmonies and peaceful easy backline would sit right at home in the Joshua Tree Saloon with the truckers, the kickers, and the cowboy angels. The singer has a soothing natural tremolo inflection similar to what Emmylou Harris and Neil Young are capable of. Her harmonies gracefully hover above the music like an otherworldly siren's song. Special attention was paid to the recording of the acoustic guitar, so that none of that rich old wooden tone was lost in the mix. Same with the violin. It's textures add a full dimensional layer to this lush Americana soundscape. - Eric SheaWayfaring Stranger:Mony Smith, the lead singer, has an incredible voice. It's strong, beautiful and never wavers. Whether you prefer traditional or moderncountry music, you'll love the Thornbirds. Although they had requested areview of "Great Kansas Hymn," and it's good, too, "Lost Angels" is amuch stronger song for them and I love the background harmonica andthe slight bluesy touch. I'm also extremely partial to "WayfaringStranger," the old time gospel song that just so happens was written bySmith's great-great-grandfather. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hearone day that this group had won a major music award.Reviewed by Shannara @ http://xemplary.apexhosting.com/xempreview.html |
