Artist History My Father, Mance E. Singleton, introduced me to his Grammer Acoustic Guitar when I was around 11 years old. He gave me the Guitar after seeing me devote a lot of time trying to play it. I am 35 now and it is still the main Acoustic Guitar that I play. Tha t Guitar is an extension of my life! I guess my early influences were those of my Father, Chet Atkins and The Beatles. I think my Father liked the songs of the Beatles but loved the guitar playing of Chet Atkins. In the 80s I abandoned the Acoustic Guita r for an Electric one and began to shred. After watching,"The Song Remains the Same", Jimmy Page was my Idol, then it was Ted Nugent with his Double Live Gonzo Album. Then I heard Van Halen and he became my ultimate hero of the six string instrument. Of coarse there was Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. I was really impressed with Alan Holdsworth and purchased a ton of his albums. Along the way I stumbled across Michael Hedges' Aerial Boundries CD. I was inspired again. So much so that I abandoned the El ect ric Guitar to pursue some of the mystical sounds that were all over Michael Hedges Albums. I saw him live twice and was just blown away by his ability to create sounds with the Acoustic Guitar and his voice. I began to develope a style that encompassed my own musical history. I never forgot about the shred of the 80s and I attempt to put interesting solos in my songs. Now I'm constantly experimenting with Alterd Tunings and Fingerpicking techniques to add flavor to my songs. I really can't explain why I write what I write but I know the Song will be good when it flows out. I know some Music Theory but believe the best stuff comes from the heart.
