Artist description
As a solo artist, this talented Boston-based singer-songwriter and guitarist has drawn comparisons to Michael Hedges, Bruce Cockburn,
and David Wilcox for his explosive acoustic guitar playing, thoughtful songwriting,
and soulful voice. As the front man for the Pat Burtis Band, his quirky and eclectic electric guitar playing has been compared to that of Jeff Beck or Trey Anastasio. |

Artist History
A student of the guitar for over twenty years and a fiction writer with a novel under his belt, Pat Burtis works his broad life experiences into his unique song-writing style. Before pursuing his musical career he worked as a freelance writer and editor, management consultant, ski instructor and ski shop clerk (where he taught skiing to the likes of Maria Shriver and once fitted Carol King for a pair of ski boots), and environmental fund-raiser. A voracious traveler, his journeys have brought him to all 50 states, South America, Nepal, India, Europe, and Central Asia, where he was once frisked and interrogated by 7 very unfriendly and armed policemen in the windowless basement of the bus station in Bishkek, Kyrgisztan. Since dedicating himself to music full-time in 1997, Pat Burtis has gained a reputation in the Northeast for his explosive guitar playing and piercing songwriting. He performs both solo and with the Pat Burtis Band, a rock quartet. His second CD ?Radium Girls? was released in October 1999, and garnered critical praise and airplay on a more than 60 radio stations nationwide. A new CD is scheduled for a fall 2001 release. |
