Artist description
He lives like he sings. He sings about how he lives. KALKOWSKI is not beatin' around the bush when he has got something to say, he's writing his lyrics as he really means it right from the start. He writes about the things that are most important for him: friendship, love and his family. As his son Boris is the friend in the song "Zwergenland", he comforts his wife Rita with "Oft unterwegs" and he dedicates "Billy The Beat" to his friend Leo Lehr who died in 1988. KALKOWSKI delivers solid Rockcraft and mighty singing with straight lyrics, ready to touch your feelings. |

Artist History
At the age of 15 KALKOWSKI was playing the drums with Berlins youngest Beat Band "The Outs", who tried to emulate The Who as well as the legendary Pretty Things. For his first love, who became his first wife as well, he dropped the drum sticks. But sadly enough the great love was followed by the great disappointment, the teenager marriage failed. After that KALKOWSKI found his way back to Rock'n'Roll. In 1979 he joined the "Berliner Bleibtreu Revue" on the drums. After two years he's leaving again, because of musical differences as well as the urge to follow his own songwriting ideas. Old and new friends are formed to the "KALKOWSKI Band". For the second time he drops the sticks, this time just to be the frontman "only". Two LPs were produced over the time and he played with some of the most important musicians in Germany over the years. And a very long lost wish from his youth came true for KALKOWSKI: on his album "Sturm" appeared a guy called Phil May. Exactly this Phil May from Pretty Things, whom he adored in his younger days... |

Press Reviews
"On the german language Olymp of Rock'n'Roll there has to be a mic to be reserved for KALKOWSKI. Why are Marius and Peter playing the Waldbühne and not Kalle? It can't be a matter of musical quality. Its just the luck, that's not always smiling not even for musicians." Rainer Bratfisch - Berliner Zeitung ------------------------ "I only wish KALKOWSKI will soon harvest the fruit of his musical talents, for the Westerhagens, Maffays and Grönemeyers are not a real threat for him." Christian Wagner - soundcheck |
