Artist description Welcome to the beginning of the 21st century. Enter BRAVE NEW WORLD, a band of 4 accomplished musicians formed in Thunder Bay by Jon Arnot in 1997. Inspired by Aldous Huxley’s 1932 classic novel Brave New World, the band reflects the sounds of the past, present, and future; both in its destructive and positive nature.Original, progressive, and energetic, BNW is a band with a unique approach to music, complete with the hook to devour earthlings and critics(!) alike.The Demo (1998) was the first independent release from Brave New World, and was only released due to public demand, air play and rave reviews. THE BUZZ placed the demo in their top ten albums of 1998. “Sunless” the first single, charted to number thirteen in Thunder Bay, and was also selected by ROCK 94 to represent Northwestern Ontario for the 1998 MOLSON SONG SEARCH competition. 1998 also saw the BNW boys take home first place in the THUNDER BAY BAND RAGE competition. 1999 has also been a most fruitful period for the band. Bnw has just finished recording their first full length CD OuR dYsToPiAn LiVeS with Juno – award winner Brandon Friesen and Jon Arnot producing. A video for the first single “I’ll Be Myself”, has also been completed. BNW is a band exploding with talent. Arnot’s embryonic, textural playing is freshly innovative amongst the over saturated, one-dimensional power chord playing, so prominent in today’s music. The tight rhythm section of Lehtinen and Bolduc is bold and exciting, weaving infectious grooves ,while Arnot synchronizes his rhythmic playing with melodic yet dissonant flow. Quazi’s vocals demand attention, and receive it, with his power and emotion at the forefront. With great hooks, clever musical arrangements, and thought provoking lyrics (courtesy of Arnot and Quazi) this quartet puts their own icing on the cake.With an adventurous and outlandish live show, complete with custom 18th century outfits, white noise TV’s, and most unfortunate mannequin heads, BNW exists to entertain both aurally and visually. In addition to headlining shows, the band have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with : Change of Heart, King Cob Steelie, Leslie Spit Trio, The Matthew Good Band, Zuckerbaby, Noise Therapy, Bif Naked, Wide Mouth Mason, Paul Rodgers, The Tubes, By Divine Right, Jazzberry Ram and Betty Moon. Unlike many bands of today (yes actually a few mentioned above) BNW actually puts on a show and electrifies.
