    Artist History
After 16 years as a professional drummer, Garland, Texas born and 29 year Austinite Chris Didear (pronounced Deejer) has traded in his drumsticks for a microphone, to become the lead vocalist for Austin's hottest new rock band Deejer. "It's something I've always wanted to do, to sing and front a rock band, to become the arrow," says Didear. Chris Didear's journey began in 1987 with local hero Jason McMaster in a cover band called ETA. He then went on to play drums in several popular Austin rock bands, including Gypsy Rogue, Blind Date, Catch 22, and most recently, 50 Mission Crush. After 5 years with 50MC, Chris Didear was ready for a new challenge, and Deejer co-founder Brandon Gibbs would be the bow that the arrow needed. Dallas, Texas born Brandon Gibbs (24) has lived in Austin for 6 years. Brandon, a singer/songwriter and guitar player for 11 years, had been the former frontman for Austin rock band Overflow, and knew Didear through local gigs with 50MC. In July 2002, the two happened to run into each other in downtown Austin, and started talking. Within a month, what started as a simple conversation between two musicians turned into six songs with soaring melody and harmony… the beginning of Deejer. They searched for weeks to find the perfect guitar player to breathe spark and texture to the band's already unique sound. Responding to an ad in a local publication, Geoff Ashcraft impressed the members in the first rehearsal. In addition to jamming with Limp Bizkit, Geoff had previously played with Texas bands Prodian and Three Day Rise, and had the ability and sounds to make the band complete. Born and raised in Los Angeles, new bassist Bob Kennedy moved to Austin in 1999. Locally, he has played with Stone's Throw and Soak, who often shared the stage with 50MC. In L.A., he played and recorded with members of School of Fish, Failure, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Bob is excited to bring his unique bass stylings to Deejer for a long time to come. There was no question of who would play drums for the group… former Overflow drummer Jeremy Bow had only to hear the songs to be convinced. Also born in Dallas, Jeremy studied percussion at North Texas University and has played with many established Austin acts, including Kitty Gordon, Gary P. Nunn, Jimmy La Fave, and Austin legend Rusty Weir. "Jeremy knows how to play the drums, not just beat them. He brings style and class that compliments our sound." Didear says of his fellow drumming brother. Within three months of the original conversation, Deejer had completed 10 songs, recorded three, charted all three in the top 20 on Garageband.com, and played their debut show. This only shows that this hard-working band's commitment to success is exceeded only by their passion for creativity and expression. Give Deejer a moment of your time, and you will become part of their destiny.
