Artist History
DECONSTRUCT formed in late 2002 and immediately recorded its first demo, which received significant positive response from the industry. On the basis of the demo, DECONSTRUCT was personally chosen by multiplatinum recording artist Disturbed to open a show on the Music As A Weapon 2 tour (Chevelle, Taproot, and Unloco also appeared on the bill) in front of over 5000 people.
In June 2003, DECONSTRUCT released their debut EP entitled “Sign of Things To Come.” The EP was serviced to select CMJ Loud Rock stations in the U.S., and was added to more than 60 stations. In August, Sacramento’s commercial hard-rock station KXOA 93.7FM gave the single “I AM” significant play, to promote DECONSTRUCT’s appearance at the Sleep Train Amphitheater opening for Iron Maiden.
DECONSTRUCT has also filmed a video for the single “I AM.” Directed and filmed by Mike Sloat, whose credits include MTV2 indie bands The Velvet Teen and Nerfherder and Columbia artist Fingertight, “I AM” is currently making waves on video shows nationwide.
Upcoming shows of note include opening for DEF LEPPARD at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater on Friday October 3, 2003 and an industry showcase at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, CA on Thursday October 30, 2003. |

Press Reviews
Excerpts taken from Gods Of Music reviewer Thomas James' review of the song "I Am":
"Rolling Stone claims that rock is back because of groups like The Vines; I denounce that claim, The Vines aren't that great. That's not rock. This is rock. "I am" by Deconstruct is the return of rock.
I would not have listed "I Am" in the metal category for the simple fact that the term 'metal' may scare some listeners away. Don't be scared. This is a lot closer to Nickelback than it is Pantera. With its clean guitar laced verses and heavy chorus, "I Am" could easily appear on rock radio around the country. Deconstruct are easily as good as their signed counterparts, i.e. Saliva and Trust Company."
"I Am' really kicks up in the chorus. With a vocalist who can scream with the best of them, Deconstruct really has a prize catch. The guitar tone is excellent and the bass and drums are really on point for lack of a better term.
"The lead guitar is done very tastefully. Do not expect 90 to nothing guitar licks slapping you in the face. The guitar is well thought out and fits the mood and feel of the song perfectly. Just prior to the solo there is some excellent work from the band overall. A slight breakdown with a delay-effected guitar really builds tension and creates an excellent precursor for the solo."

Although I realize their importance to up-and-coming bands, sometimes I think demos are a just waste of time. A band plays a couple of tunes and you can say "Cool, crap or no big deal." Frankly, I don't think you can tell enough about any band from just three songs - except maybe whether or not you want to hear more. And I guess that's really the point.
That being said, sometimes a band comes along that impresses you so much with their demo that you simply can't wait to hear more. Deconstruct is just such a band.
Deconstruct is hard driving, heavy metal crafted into an engaging musical experience. Granted, it lasts only thirteen minutes, but all thirteen minutes were impressive.
Deconstruct has all the aspects of a very good metal band: attitude, better than average musical ability, good songwriting skills and - oh, yeah - attitude.
If the title of "Sign of Things to Come" is correct - and from what I hear it is - I expect very good things coming from Deconstruct.
