Artist History Truth if I Lie got together over the summer of 2002. Nate (drums) and Jesse (guitar) played together a couple times and then invited Matt (bass) and Reid (vocals) to join. The name (which took several months to finally agree on) is a mistranslation of the title of the French film "La Verite si je Mens!", a French idiom meaning "Would I lie to you?". Nate and Matt accidentally translated the words literally and came up with "Truth if I Lie".
