Artist description
Fans of Kevin Book’s Endless Sound Project don’t know how to classify the music. “It’s sort of a Brit-Pop meets Roots Rock,” explains one fan. “Syntho-acoustic, maybe a little raw and folky, almost anti-virtuosic,” says another. Even Kevin’s old producer, Virginian Kevin McNoldy [Seven Mary Three, Clare Quilty] had a hard time even categorizing Kevin’s Voice. “It’s sort of a young Mick Jagger meets Bob Dylan,” McNoldy says.
At 30 years old with a naturally bald head and a soft and jiggly belly, Kevin is too old to slam dance and too cynical to write love songs. Thus the Endless Sound Project compositions are indeed anti-virtuosic, simplistic renderings strapped to pounding electronica beats and 80s-inspired bass lines. In almost all the songs, Kevin uses open acoustic tunings and modded synthesizer samples instead of the overproduced static guitar that characterizes modern rock. Is it fusion or confusion? Become a part of the Endless Sound Project and find out. |

Artist History
Kevin Book grew up listening to hard core, speed metal and … go-go … in urban Washington, DC. After shredding most of his hearing with a Marshall Stack and a Les Paul, Kevin’s long hair years gave way to a new pop sensibility as his band Waiting for Jane set attendance records at Washington-area venues between 1995 and 1998. After Waiting for Jane, Kevin re-applied himself to a wrathful metal-pop in the spirit of Nirvana or Green Day with his trio “n’8” before returning to the studio to reinvent himself for the fourth and final time. |
