Artist History
The instrumental album, From the Edge, is Rich Marcil's latest endeavor. Rich has written music and performed for several musical groups and ensembles of various musical styles over the past 10 years. His band, Pirate Radio, was signed to a recording contract for Woodrich Recordings label in 1993. Rich's subsequent group, Burn, was selected to play The New Music Seminar in New York City in July 1994. The Celtic & Folk ensemble Marble Feather, with whom Rich had performed from 1997 until September 2001, had their song "Wekiva" selected to appear in the nationally-distributed PBS documentary "Wekiva: Legacy Or Loss?" in 2000.

Press Reviews
Refreshing acoustics combine with "Yanni-ish" melodic phrasing
Reviewer: Steve Y.
I was quite impressed with "From the Edge". The music offers a refreshing texture (similar to Water, Wind, and Stone from the group Checkfield), the melodies are neo-Narada-esq and catchy (I can't get Castles out of my head), and the CD leaves me wanting to hear more from this artist. It appears Marcil is not afraid to experiment with different melodic and rhythmic structures, several of which develop quite nicely on the CD. I have great expectations from this well-versed musician/composer, and look forward to future recordings. |
