Artist description
red cell six is a cocktail of musical influences. The chainsaw like vocals of Fred cut over-top everything; Fred's cites his influences as the underground Cleveland music scene, which includes Mushroomhead and 216, and Pantera. D-Rok's style and sound drives and pushes their style; D-Rok, a child of the 80's shredding metal, sites Siagon Kick, Tool and A Perfect Circle as his influences. Germ's drums, which are hidden tightly witht the 7-string, add a very progressive and forceful, yet subtle, edge; Germ sites techno, Tool, King Krimson, the Who, Meshuggah and Mindless Self Indulgence as influences. The muddy background from Steve's bass lies the foundation for the rest of the ruchus going on. Steve's influences are Pearl Jam, Tool, Rage Against the Machine and Pink Floyd. Together these four add different perspectives to what red cell six sounds like.
There is a constant push and pull within the band. Fred strives for hard heavy vocals, while D-Rok pumps out riff after riff of catchy cloudy melodies. Germ is completely on the other end, not wanting create catchy tunes or riffs just to get radio play or a fans bases; he tries to further music, including their music, and push the limits and talents of everyone. Steve is the glue that brings and keeps everything together. His job is not easy, but he does it extremely well- keeping the guitar and vocals together while not stealing light away from the vocals. |
