    Artist History
Rob Keeley studied with Oliver Knussen at the Royal College of Music (Junior Department), at Magdalen College Oxford under the late Dr Bernard Rose, and later with Robert Saxton. For ten years he was a freelance composer and pianist/repetiteur: in which latter capacity he worked for Opera Factory, Almeida Opera and in three of Garsington Opera's series of Haydn operas. He has also played keyboards with the London Sinfonietta and Music Projects/London, and regularly performs as a pianist specialising in contemporary Italian and American music. Rob has given lecture recitals in 20th century piano music at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and seminars on his own music at UC Berkeley and the University of Oregon, Eugene. He has had works written for him by Harrison Birtwistle, Michael Finnissy, Jonathan Cole, Richard Emsley and Gilbert Biberian. In 1988 he studied at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome with Franco Donatoni, and then at the Tanglewood Summer Music School, where he was Benjamin Britten Fellow in Composition and where he received support and encouragement from Leonard Bernstein and Hans Werner Henze. Rob joined King's College, London in 1993, where apart from teaching Composition at all levels, under- and post-graduate, he is also actively involved in the coaching and performance of music from all periods. His works have been performed by, among others: BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Lontano, Premiere Ensemble, Ensemble Bash, pianist Colin Stone, guitarists Jonathan Leathwood and Fabio Zanon, Chinook Clarinet Quartet, Fretwork, Corrado Canonici, Composer's Ensemble and Jane Manning. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Selected works - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - : Two Studies for Orchestra (9') 1st perf. of no 1, Tanglewood Summer Music School Orchestra/Oliver Knussen, Aug.1988: 1st complete perf.
