Artist History
Stephen Bunovsky is a founding member of the now defunct New Haven, Connecticut based pop/rock group Hannah Cranna. His singing, songwriting and guitar playing were integral to the fabulous critical response to Hannah's two studio efforts; 1995's Better Lonely Days and 1997's Hannah Cranna (produced by Badfinger's Joey Molland).
Hazy Sunshine is a record for anyone in love with 60's inspired pop/rock. The album is a collection of recordings begun by Steve as potential tracks for a third Hannah Cranna record. The project assumed a new meaning and focus with the folding of Big Deal Records and the subsequent breakup of Hannah Cranna. Polishing up the original demos at Oxford Circus studios, Bunovsky instead made Hazy Sunshine his first solo effort. With echoes of the Beatles, Badfinger, the Kinks and the Byrds reverberating throughout, this record is sure to please fans of both Hannah Cranna and the classic pop/rock genre.

Press Reviews
So many people have wondered what ever happened to the much-revered Hanna Cranna once their label went under a few years back. Well, their leader has resurfaced under his own name and fans of early 70's melodies should find the this ringing collection of 9 songs much to their liking. Crisp guitar lines and rich, throaty vocals bring to mind Badfinger in many spots and then Byrds and Big Star("For Now" could have walked off of "#1 Record" and been a Chris Bell gem) in others. "Bunovsky plays it smart and keeps things focused on the basics: short, sharp pop songs...the title track conjures up a little Big Star. Elsewhere we can hear the influence of The Posies, Badfinger and Marshall Crenshaw...classic guitar pop will always have its place and while it won't alter your world, Hazy Sunshine will unquestionably make it a better place for 32 minutes"-Toast Magazine. "the more one listens to Bunovsky's poised stab at classic pop-rock, the more one is assured Hazy Sunshine is the work of a potential master of the form. With succulent melodies and beefy guitar wizardry...this is a sure-fire acquisition of first-rate guitar rock. Fans of Matthew Sweet will adore this"-Power Of Pop. |
