Artist History
Pascal lamarche was born on April 4 , 1977 in Vimont , Laval, a Montreal suburb. When he was one year old, his family moved to Lorraine, in the lower Laurentians.Because his family enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, Pascal also learned to appreciate many different musical styles early on in life.At the age of five, he took a music initiation course, learning to play the xylophone. At six, when his grand father, Andre Lamarche, gave him his grand piano, Pascal started taking classical piano lessons.Pascal’s grand father had consecrated his entire youth and adult life to the piano because of ill health preventing him from participating in sports. At seventeen, Andre Lamarche was ready to participate in the European Grand Prix , but had to give that up to help take care of the family when his father died, as he was the oldest in a family of nine children
Serge Lamarche, Pascal’s father, passed on his love for the piano to Pascal by playing the works of Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms and other composers. At the age of thirteen, Pascal discovered a great passion for the guitar and, in October 1990, his father gave him an electric guitar. He put his heart and soul into the guitar, practicing six to eight hours a day on top of his one and a half hour piano practices. With his musical know-how acquired through piano lessons, he learned the guitar on his own and later took lessons to learn jazz techniques. His spectrum of musical genres, which he would later use to compose his music, was taking form and included rock, jazz, classical and pop amongst others. At the age of fifteen, he began giving music lessons to earn money for future projects.
In his last year of secondary school, he was accepted in the music concentration program at Cure Antoine Labelle High School in St-rose, Laval. Where he put all his energy into studying classical guitar under the supervision of Daniel Dubuc. Pascal and Daniel became friends and, when Pascal graduated, Daniel invited him to set up a jazz workshop at the school. Pascal, then seventeen, was already a jazz guitar specialist at Cure Labelle while continuing his studies at Lionel Groulx College in St-Thérčese. One and a half years away from graduation, he decided to continue his studies on his own to concentrate on composing music and planning his future recording studio.
For several years, Pascal continued teaching guitar piano, setting aside his earnings to finally set up his own studio at the age of 23 and create his “Man of God” project. |
