Poison The Well rip-offs no more...
February 2nd, 2003 by Audrey Murray.....
Lenorah, a quintet from Zanesburg, played a triumphant debut show last night at Munkyhead Tattoo, along with other local area bands, Up and Atom, The Makeshift Theory, The Hush-Hush and This Winters Dream. Lenorah was conceived after the death of Coldfire, consisting of Eric Keyes-guitar, Drew Stotts-bass, Aaron Oakley-drums and Aaron Jasper-guitar, originally with Craig Mooney on vocals. After losing their frontman to that horrible trap we call ‘your future’ (a.k.a. college)...the struggle to train a vocalist seemed to be getting more difficult. Eric Keyes, guitar and Drew Stotts, bass, both tried the roll of frontman, but things just weren’t clicking. Vocalist/godsend Matt Palmer was recruited. Along with a new vocalist, came a new name and new songs. I’ll give you 3 guesses on what that name is, children. Lenorah. It’s roughly 9:20pm, bodies covering every inch of this quaint, independently owned tattoo parlor, the crowd is ready..Matt Palmer takes the mic, walks into the crowd, parting them like the Red Sea. All eyes fixated on him. "This is mockery! Can’t they see the red carpet had dropped?" A solo recital of poetry before any music is played. Never before have I seen a vocalist deliver such a powerful opening statement. The music begins. Heavy, yet melodic. Brutal, yet lenient. Influenced by musical acts like Bright Eyes, Radiohead, From Autumn to Ashes, Dave Mathews Band, Thursday, Rotting Christ and Poison the Well, it’s hard to throw Lenorah into your stereotypical genre of music. Trying to create their own, Lenorah will surely adopt a loyal following. The months of hard work have undoubtedly paid off in great increments. Poetic, creative, musical and original, Lenorah delivers an awe-inspiring show. You can catch Lenorah February 22nd at the Dillon Reception Hall. |
