Artist description
In a sense, the saga of this young band from Los Angeles begins at the dawn of auditory perception, when ancient creatures first experienced the ecstasy of sound. More accurately, however, Twilight's story begins in the year 2000. At the helm of this musical undertaking was Mark Palmer (then known as "Marcos Rodriguez"), an aspiring astronaut and lead vocalist. Joining Mark on the lead guitar was musical prodigy Paul Hoover. Only 17 at the time, Paul had begun to sense his call toward making music and/or chocolate chip cookies. Since his EZ Bake Oven was destroyed in a random room cleaning accident, music became his default occupation. Brett Barry ably filled the percussion section of Twilight by agreeing to play both drums and cymbals. The straggler in all of this was Jerome Gaw, a.k.a. "Wheat". 20 years removed from his birthplace of Hong Kong, Wheat sought a diverse musical situation and band members who could tolerate the emotional demands of his constantly revolving collection of electrical basses.
With all of this in place, songs were written, refined, thrown out, and reintroduced. Twilight's first live performances (under the name Life in Art) were well-received, and the guys knew that this was something worth keeping together. In spite of some obstacles and near misses, each member of Twilight remains committed to keeping this dream alive. Uniting around the goal of creating something that they can enjoy, Mark, Paul, Brett, and Wheat begin their third year of existence with a renewed enthusiasm for fried chicken and good music.
Although Twilight's musical calling card remains its explosive and passionate live show, the band has been working diligently on its first full-length recording to supplement 2000's Under the Stars EP. The new material showcases a band that has grown both individually and corporately. Some of the new songs have been made available online, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive and encouraging.
The members of Twilight are grateful for the support they have received from fans and well-wishers. Please stay tuned for more news on the upcoming album and our live shows.

Press Reviews
These guys served up good 'ol American indie rock (if there be such a thing) with a dash of dream pop and space rock as their core base. Beautiful vocals by Mark Palmer are sustained by steady guitars and occasional keyboard undertones. Melodic tones set the pace, and you'd think you're listening to dream pop, until strong drums and guitar step in and bring more of a rock element to the Life in Art sound. This transition was done quite well. My personal favorites were "Cold" and "Beautiful Grace", but I truly enjoyed every song." Rachel Tolle Wake Zine |
