Artist description
Jessie Galante’s latest release Shine. She packed it up nicely with airtight attitude and emotion.. 12 songs that will invigorate and stimulate you, just like she does when she performs them live. At 5’3”, she is a dynamo, a belter and unstoppable. Jessie has a voice so strong and full of feeling it will make you drop to your knees begging her for more of her wonderful torture. She knows what to do with what she’s got and is happy and willing to give it all to her audiences that never seem to get enough of her.
Jessie co-wrote all the songs on her CD. “I cared so much about this record that I had to agonizingly force myself not to care too much. I worked hard at not over-thinking or second guessing my writing or singing. I lost sleep, didn’t eat and lost track of time but I was really able to have a lot of fun recording. I locked myself up in my studio for months and went nuts. I felt free, crazy, wild and bad…bad…bad! It was the best time of my life!”
Jessie Galante, affectionately called the First Lady of Rock by her New York fans, has released a new CD with a distinctive universal flare. Contrary to current trends in pop music, this release is filled with melodic content and provoking lyrics. Her music pokes fun as much as it reveals deep heartache and all of her interesting emotions are surrounded with strong dance beats. Jessie’s melodic and lyrical talents are complemented perfectly by Hungarian Janos Szucs’ musical contributions. Their combination is “like-nobody-else-out-there” and very powerful.
Jessie’s new release portrays an artist who was come to a full understanding of who she is and not afraid to show it. She loves to entertain and you can see that from the sparks that fly every time she opens her mouth to sing. Ever since she first picked up a microphone in her hometown of Buffalo, New York, Jessie has been showered with accolades and awards, continually drawing the attention of the music industry, press and audiences in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
The CD release coincides with the unveiling of a new fully redesigned website containing song samples, photo gallery, touring schedules, biographical information and critical reviews. “Shine” and some of Jessie’s previous releases are available worldwide thru Amazon.com and her website at http://www.jessiegalante.com
Jessie will be promoting her new release in Europe with a club and festival tour starting February 2003. For bookings contact Lawrence P. Artist History
Attitude…that’s what you get when you listen to Jessie Galante sing. Invigorated is how you feel when you watch her perform. She was born and raised on the West Side of Buffalo, New York in a Sicilian household with strict parents and four protective brothers. With all the pressure of being good and tame, Jessie turned into a rebellious teenager always fighting to get out of the house. She desperately craved to express and be herself in a way that she couldn’t at home. She finally found that outlet in her hometown music scene that was destined to influence her musical style for the rest of her life. She eventually took to the stage like a storm that had the power to paralyze a city. So much did she express the power and passion of the city’s rock n’ roll roots, that it honored her with the title “Buffalo’s First Lady of Rock”, a title that has remained unchallenged and that she still holds today.
She’s fronted popular bands like “Actor” in Buffalo and “Fire” in Los Angeles. Actor was proclaimed one of Buffalo’s best rock bands of all time. Their popularity exploded because of their powerful performances fronted by Jessie’s dynamic vocals. Actor was soon getting radio airplay from the regions top radio stations. Jessie received numerous awards for her performances including “Best Entertainer of the Year” and “Best Female Vocalist” awarded by her audience, promoters and club owners.
With the band “Fire” Jessie was described in LA’s Music Connection magazine as, “Inarguably one of the hottest front women LA has to offer.” As their name implied, they took to the streets of L.A. with Jessie in the lead and burned up everything in their path within the first year. Jessie and “Fire” were voted one of the Top Ten hottest bands in Los Angeles earning their reputation with a series of sold-out shows and massive acclaim.
Jessie eventually broke away from “Fire” and wrote her first solo debut record in 1997 titled “Gesua”, (her birth name) and “Candy Jar” in 1998. She also released a CD where she recorded popular Italian songs that came about with a flood of support from the Italian community and a “sold out” concert at the famous Tralfamadore Caf in Buffalo in which Jessie received a personal letter from the Vice Consolato D’Italia applauding her stunning performance.
Jessie teamed up with Hungarian-born songwriter and guitarist Janos Szucs whom she met at one of her engagements in Europe in 2001. The combination of their songwriting proved to be very powerful and in March 2003, the independent label Greedy Songbird Music announced the release of Jessie’s most recent CD titled, “SHINE”.
On one of her club tours in Europe, a promoter called Jessie “a major victory for live entertainment in Europe.” In a review by Hans-Jurgen Klitsch, of Hartbeat Magazine, Germany writes: “I’ve fallen head over heels in love with Jessie, who must rate as the biggest white soul sister around at the moment. ”
At 5 feet 3 inches, Jessie is a dynamo, a belter and unstoppable. Her songs are clever and creative with unique sounds all over the place. She holds exclusive rights to her sound and style: soulful, gut-wrenching, movin’, groovin’, get-down-funky rock n’ roll…all rolled into one and wrapped up with an edge that clearly sets her apart from the rest, making it impossible for comparisons. With all that and her relentless passion to entertain, she naturally connects with her audience. She was born and lives for
the stage.
Jessie’s energy and star quality charisma always stirs up crowds wherever in the world she performs but it’s her natural ability to sing her songs with the intensity of her voice that invigorates and leaves her audiences chanting for more.
