Artist History Blockade formed in the fall of 1997 in Lyon's suburb, it's in November 1999 that the line up was stabilized. After the recording of two demos and many shows across France, Switzerland and U.K, the band decides to self-finance its first LP. Blockade entered the studio in June 2001 in Uppsala, Sweden with producer Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Stuck Mojo). The result is definitely heavy but each song evolving little by little, the band decides not to release the full album and keeps re-working on the songs and writing some more. After a three month trip to LA, where Blockade performed live and met some local scene instigators, the combo returned to Lyon where they decided to record in its own rehearsal room. The result is three songs that are more representative of its current repertoire. We can describe Blockade's music as a kind of mix of heavy rock, metal, post hardcore, emocore, punk rock, Brit-rock, Swedish and American pop rock, free jazz and trip hop. An intense music with strong songwriting that never excludes experimentation, may they be unplugged, or may they take the band away from the traditional drums/bass/guitars schema. The band doesn't fix any limit and the songs are arranged in a certain way to be either played "unplugged" with the structures not being changed, either dynamised for their live shows to rock! Lyrics, tracing the music, are all references to human relationship in everyday life, being positive or negative. We can sometimes notice a kind of weakness behind asked questions but the answers are always "celestial". All of this brings us to today. All the magazine, fanzine, webzine and radio stations that have talked about Blockade are unanimous about the bands more than convincing compositions. They improve from show to show and their live performances are getting more and more sick. DON'T MISS THEM!
