Artist History
In March of 2000, Dave Maggot (vocals) and Mark Richards (guitar) quit their then current musical endeavors to embark upon a new direction in music, titled In God's Descent. A complete lineup was never found, and by August of 2000 a name change was needed. After going through lists of countless possibilities, they had almost given up. But at the last minute, they decided to change to Upon Crimson Wings, taken from a story that published horror writer Dave Maggot had manifested at the time.
From that point the 2 desperate metalheads searched high and low for a full lineup, eventually finding Jon Rusk (guitar), Greg Sabin (bass) and Brian Carson (drums) to fill the spots. By September of 2001 the band released their first 7 song demo, "Cancer of the Gemini." Only 150 copies were sold, due to the fact that it was not exactly the best demo ever released. In February of 2002 the band ran into some problems, resulting in the expulsion of Jon Rusk and Brian Carson quitting. Rob Devlin (guitar), good friend and former Beyond the Sixth Seal guitarist was asked to join and accepted right away.
After Rob joined, the search for a drummer ended in March of 2002. Local music fan Seth Conway (drums) was picked up, found by chance and pure luck. But it seemed as if it was meant to be; by June of 2002 the band was ready for shows once again, with a much refined sound, and a live demo, "Live Masochism" that is still in circulation. The new line up of Upon Crimson Wings was then ready to record a full length in late July of 2002; 8 songs recorded for the self-titled release were pumped out faster than a thrash riff, but many problems ensued trying to release the cd. It is now January of 2003 and the full length is being reproduced, ready by mid-January.
