Artist description
Model FM weaves diverse strands of rock, soul, and jazz into their pop structures. Q: What does "Model FM" mean, and is it a) an esoteric phrase from a literary work, b) a random pairing of words and letters to produce something that sounds cool and ironic, or c) named after a radio station that plays music exclusively for runway models?
A: None of the above. Instead, the name "Model FM" merely describes the concept of a band playing the music it would rather hear on radio instead of compromising its originality to fit a certain genre. You might be familiar with a popular motion picture in which its characters hijack a commercial radio station and use its communicative powers for their own devices. Rest assured, the members of Model FM do not condone such behavior.

Press Reviews
"These guys from L.A. have hit upon one of my musical weaknesses: I am a total sucker for the sound of electric piano. The pearly keys that decorate Model FM's songs are easily the centerpoint -- and a beautiful high point at that. The band's sound seems acutely inspired by the diverse set of early '70s artists whose work bore melodic jazz awareness..." - Joseph McCombs, Starpolish.com |
