Although she is an unusually upbeat, and bubbly person, her life has not been all smiles. Her writing and singing reflects that. She has a rough edge in her lyrics that makes people sit up and take notice. Whether she's singing about love, heartache, bad breakups, worthless men, or the simple pleasure of a relationship every word is arranged in a new and fresh way. Mauri's voice reflects the four years of constant training in opera and jazz. It is smooth and clear, yet can blow you away with it's power. Her preferred style is R&B Hip-Hop, but don't be surprised if you hear a little rock, because this woman is full of surprises both vocal and lyrical.

Artist History Mauri Bailey was born in Georgia and moved to Brooklyn at the age of 2. She’s been a New York native ever since and her sound reflects the many experiences and flavors that are associated with the Capital of the World. Mauri Bailey has been singing and performing since she could utter rhythmic sounds. She started writing songs at the tender age of eight, a pop-inspired ditty called "Rollercoaster". It is these gifts that she has taken from the natural soulful sounds that are associated with gospel singers and fine-tuned throughout her academic career. Mauri, like many singers got her start early on. Whether it was performing at family gatherings or participating in school events and choirs she decided early on that singing was meant for her. A love for her craft has been the main driving force that has not only kept her striving but has also kept her growing as an artist. Her classical training at Friend’s Seminary in Manhattan has given her the tools to be truly unique from the many singers who claim to be the best of both worlds. Mauri has been trained in jazz, opera, and musical theater making her one of the most versatile performers around. Currently she is further digging into new ground, continuing her musical training at Hunter College giving her 7 solid years of musical training. Mauri Bailey has already begun production on an independent album that is sure to show the world what Hip-Hop/R&B should sound like. With the control of an opera singer, the appeal for mainstream radio, and content of a true lyricist, Mauri is sure to be a force to be reckoned with. With an independently released album in the works it’s only a matter of time before the young and talented songstress will create a buzz that will be sure raise the bar in a mediocre industry.
