Artist History West Coast born, East Coast raised Stream of Conscious also known as S.Carson has applied his style of writing to most everything he does in life. A writer of poetry for some time, in the summer of 2001 he made his presence felt by slamming at the Nuyorican Poetry Cafe on various friday night as well taking his turn at hosting a very long list of successful shows. Currently he is the host of Hiphop Affair at Harlem's Gishen Cafe on Thursday nights. As well as Spit! at Cafe Iimani every Saturday night in the Heart of Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn. Right now Conscious is working on the beginning stages of organizing his Independent Record Label Ekelektik Gardens. He has a series of underground LP's ( Journal: An Eklektik Journey, Pagan 1st Movement 1968, The S.Carson LP) as well as a mixtape { S.Carson Vol 2) showcasing the talents of unsigned emcees. Conscious's main goal through his art in the long run is to be independently sound and prove that one can be self sufficient and live off of his/her art.Not being deemed starving but a thriving artist. Maintaing integrity most importantly. Ultimately he intends on starting a non-profit organization fueled by the very artistry he has been blessed with, that deals with teaching the youth in his neighborhood and providing services for formerly incarcerrated persons aiding them in the re-intrance to society to lead normal productive lives.

Press Reviews Sonny Carson LP by Dyalekt One of the more prolific writers in Hip Hop, Poet/MC Stream of Conscious aka Sonny Carson has compiled a few of his innovative rhymes over commercial and self produced original beats entitled the Sonny Carson LP. This veteran MC and host of Harlem's Gishen Cafe open mic flips so many styles that you would swear this is a crew album. He maintains one theme throughout the LP though: Intellect. S dot presents positive concepts and deals with issues of being a real man thoughtfully and thought provokingly. His skills are undeniable, and his voice is engaging, drawing you into his world as well as any other legendary MC you could mention. His mission however, is not to prove his talent, or make you aware of the condition surrounding our world, but to open minds and allow people to work through their own issues, with his anecdotes as a reference. With no guest appearances, spoken word's Donny Hathaway stays true to his vision. His smooth, easygoing nature isn't hard to relate to, not unlike Common. Sadly though, the LP almost seems too ambitious, as most are not ready for an MC this sincere. You won't find anything from this album on radio stations anytime soon. But when people, industry and consumer alike, are ready to grow up, check with Sonny first. Insider Rating: 8 (out of 10)
