Artist History
Spawned in the golden age of new anarchy and rebellion against the corporate disco mainstream establishment of the late 70s, The Boneheads helped establish the first onslaught of Philly garage/punk/surf music at David Carroll's infamous Hot Club.
Known for their shenanigans onstage and off, The Boneheads embodied the raw subversive attitude of the times. Thrown out of their debut gig on New Years night 1979 at South Street's JC Dobbs, they went on to perform with such New Wave legends as The B52s, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, The Feelies, Nico (of Velvet Underground fame), and Brian Setzer's first band, The Bloodless Pharaohs.
Now available for the first time ever, Falling Cow Records has released a 4-song EP from The Boneheads regrettably limited archives. With cuts like "New Jersey" and Surfin UFO", the disc demonstrates the group's singular brand of humor, raucous energy and irreverence which made them such a fan favorite of a thrilling bygone chapter of rock n' roll history. |
