Artist description
In an overwhelming clutter of deafening guitar noise and manly yelps, comes a rock band that’s refreshing, original and true to it’s genre.
Miami's own Rhett and the Pawnshop Drunks bring rock-n-roll back to the basics with lyrically driven hooks and a story to tell.
“One of rock's great singers, able to turn thoughts to words to deftly nuances and emotionally charged catalysts for listeners…” says Greg Baker of Street Magazine.
With over three albums worth of material waiting in the wings, the band is currently promoting the release of their debut disc, “All the Things We Couldn’t Say”.
The CD is just a glimpse at the large work of melodic stories similar to the way a Paul Thomas Anderson (Director: Boogie Nights / Magnolia / Punch Drunk Love) film would sound like.
Tales of everyday Joe's with everyday problems everyone can relate to. The cd’s honesty and emotion break through on songs like Mother the Boy, Crack in the Door and Craving, but also keeps spirits high with the power and light hearted sentiments on tracks such as “Wish I Could’ve Been”.
A young veteran of the Miami music scene with such bands as Young Turk (Virgin Records) and The Butter Club (Peermusic), Rhett brings his colorful showmanship back with a group of South Florida’s most talented Rock musicians.
The lead guitar riffs that heighten the experience of Rhett's unique style are supplied by Tony Medina, a staple of the Miami Rock scene ranging from studio sessions to live performances for both Regional and International artists, such as Latin Gerammy Award Winning Jorge Moreno.
Medina recently has aquired sponsorship by Gibson and Martin Guitars. All that energy packed into a groove supplied by the rhythmic core of Roly Lugo on drums, Mike Mut on bass and Tony Suarez’s Latin Percussion, creates a solid pocket that keeps heads bobbing long after the set’s over.
No samples. No scratches. Rock-n-Roll the way it was intended. “With blues-injected rock styling, poet-ruffian stances and a lyrical love affair with vulnerability…” Rene Alvarez of Street Magazine.
