Artist History
Author: Shaniqua Tamisha Mojambe Goldstein
Thousands of years ago, a prophecy was told by the great oracle known as Y'Bdssi-Hysydtcvrne Xyzpdq Smith. His all-seeing eye gave him visions of a great and mighty rock band of four exceptionally talented young men who would lead a revolution to save the doomed masses from the tragedy that is modern pop music. Though this prophecy was completely ridiculous, that very chain of events is in the works, forsooth.
Roughly five years ago, Nick played guitar, Matt L. played bass, and Zach played the drums in a band. After various crappy names such as "Sweetness" and "Cure for Apathy" (which wasn't such a bad name, but everybody was calling them "that Cure band", denoting some relation to the terrible, horrible 80's band), the band was...struggling. Some time after they recorded a cassette of a few songs in a studio, they played a gig at a church event. Matt H. was invited to take the drums for one song. Matt H. eventually took over full-time on the drums, and Zach assumed the position of lead guitar. Thus Lucid was born.
After a few gigs including a coveted slot at Riverfest, as well as two basement recordings, the band came across a chance to record in a professional studio. This brings us to the not-so distant past. Since the name Lucid was already copyrighted, Lucid became Livewire. That name, too, was taken, so in the spirit of Def Leppard, Motley Crüe, and…um…other…bands, they spelled their name wrong and became Lucyd.
The band has since finished its first full-length album, professionally recorded, mixed and mastered. The aforementioned prophet also predicted that you would buy the CD. It’s called Lucyd=Good and it is, as stated, good. There’s even a secret track IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CD!!! (Don’t tell anybody, it’s a secret) It’s $10 and all proceeds go to charity. SO BUY, BUY, BUY!!! (Not like the Nsync song)
