Artist History
Cameroonian born, Gesse Roy, whose names are Gnowa Simon, is a Telecommunications Engineer.
In his youth, he was marveled by the legend Bob Marley with his melodies, lyrics and style that led him to express himself like him.
At high school, he belonged to the school music band where he used to thrill his fellow students during life performances. He appears a good interpreter of Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and Peter Tosh.
While following higher studies in Germany, he came into contact with Lucky Dube whom he gives a lot of respect for his talent. He now decides to make an album. But due to financial difficulties he was obliged to make first a 10 tracks album titled “ Legalize the Justice “ all alone. From Percussions to guitars, from voices to keyboards, Gesse Roy takes up the challenges and enters the large gate of Showbiz.
Being an enthusiast militant for the rights of women and children, Gesse Roy shares the idea that their is no strong and plain Africa tomorrow without happy children today. Sensitive to the crucial problems of the hour where the youths are undergoing that even threaten his country and the continent as a whole, he brings through his second album a modest contribution in the fight against AIDS, Starvation, Corruption as well as unemployment of the youth.
“ Exorcist ” is a 16 tracks album available in CD and double volume cassettes: “ Gnration Chmeurs “ ( unemployed generation ) and “ Ma Tpuri “ ( Toupouri Girl ). This album is the fruit of the contribution of many great Cameroonian artists.
