Artist History
PONO was formed in 1998 by Barbara Brownell and Ellard. They decided to make music that stepped slightly outsideof popular musical constructs while still remaining fairly accessible. The eclectic music that emerged was dubbed Ravioli Rock. They used life experiences, philosophy(Derrida in particular),art, and bubble baths as inspiration for their debut album Mao Tse-tung's Bar Mitzvah was 13 years, 13 months, and 13 days before Gandhi's Circumcision. Other musicians havecontributed to the PONO sound, but Barb and Ellardremain the driving force behind PONO. They alsoreally believe in swordfish. Plummet, plummet, Yeah! |
