Artist description
2 DJs (DJ Spaz and DJ Sozo), and one lovely lady (Spyrit). Newest to the mix is a hyperactive raver (Fuzzy), whose energetic rap style rounds out the mix. When this crew isn't out for coffee together, they are whipping together awesome trance/house/club tracks. When they aren't doing that, they are usually remixing killer tracks, adding their own distinctive touch... |

Artist History
This duo met in a club where Spaz was playing in '97. Spaz was impressed with Sozo's entusiasm, and decided to take him on as an apprentice. The two soon discovered they also had a great love for trance and techno in common, and decided to drop their own unique energetic vibes together. Thus, -403- was born. Recent additions to the team include fabulous vocalist Spyrit, with her incredible lyrics and captivating voice. Recently, Fuzzy was thrown into the mix while spitting out incredible lyrics overtop of a music project. |

Press Reviews
- Airplay on Big 105.5 FM - Red Deer Advocate, August 23, 2002 : "Tyler Bacon, Nathan Young and Mandie Lunder don't take drugs but they admit to being addicted to the music they create. It's the computer-created variety that comes under the catch-all label of electronica. In general, it features an insistent, thumping beat and it's the sort of music played at raves and bars that cater to the 18-30 set. "I am addicted to it. I am hooked to the scene," says Bacon, 25. "Me too," says Young, 24. "I love dancing." Lunder, 20, couldn't make it to the interview. Young says he can dance for four hours non-stop and puts that endurance down to his drug-free lifestyle, a status shared by both his music-producing partners. The three of them form -403- and are planning to release an album of their work at the end of September. Bacon said that wherever he is, he is bouncing either to the music that's playing in his head or from whatever more conventional source such as radio or CD player is nearby. Both men have day jobs, but their music is what they are passionate about. It's all done with a computer and some pricey programs and, of course, a fine ear for the sound. Young says he spends most evenings from midnight to 6 a.m. at a local 24-hour restaurant chugging coffee and working on the computer. His specialty is a variant of electronica known as Trance - a less frantic, more melodic sound, but still incorporating the steady background beat. Their music is "a bit of everything," says Bacon, known as Spaz in his life as a dj. These days, disc jockeys do a lot more than simply play albums. They are re-mixers and producers, said Young. He learned the trade from Bacon, after spending months hanging around the club Bacon was working at some years ago. Eventually, Bacon gave in and showed Young the ropes. Young's musical background goes back to when he was seven and took a couple of years of piano lessons. He also played the flute in band class from Grade 5 to Grade 10. He's been listening to techno music for 13 years, and Bacon has been working as a dj for 10. The album is due out Sept. 30, and has backing from local sponsors Darren Hammett and Kevin Ward, under their Extent Productions label, in co-operation with -403- Productions. In the meantime, the sound of -403- can be checked on the Web. It's at www.mp3.com/403. Bacon does a regular shift as the Catwalk dj on Thursdays from about 10 p.m. on. |
