Artist History
Generous Portions, hailing from Buffalo, NY, began in May of 1995 as a primarily jazzy-rock group, consisting of Keyboards, drums, bass, and sax, and playing coffee shops and small bars. At the end of '95, they released a tape EP that attacted attention from people like Ben Folds. As time passed, GP started playing the premiere clubs in Buffalo, and refined their sound to a catchy, powerfully sax-driven sound. Soon, guitar was added where sax took a rest, and Generous Portions has a full length CD of diverse, punchy songs of love and despair. Generous Portions plays with the top groups in the area, and has everyone talking. |

Press Reviews
Generous Portions, "Parul". The debut CD by
Generous Portions serves heaping helpings of jazzy spy music
- that slinky, slightly mischievous, and even intense music
adding character to the background of a film thriller. Much of
that sound comes from vocalist Josh Hill's nice touch on
keyboards and the cool sax work of Tom Stanford, which
both kick in immediately on the opening number, "When
School Let's Out." Hill's deep, raw vocals give the jazzy
"Lauren," one of the band's most familiar songs, an
unexpected intensity. A jazz-rock flow moves "Desire" along
nicely, while things are slow and sexy on "Daphodyl."
