Artist History
Brainshake - founded late 1998 as Brainshake Milkshake - has gone through several identity changes in it's two-and-a-half years of existence. Brainshake started off with five inspired but totally unexperienced guys who wanted to write and play music. Not knowing what musical road to take, Brainshake started off playing semi-alternative punk with flavors of grunge and funk. Soon they discovered this was not the right direction. After the recording of their first promo 'The Abderite Democritus' a change started to take place.Brainshake started to explore their sound and slowly the horizon broadened. The music turned darker, more melodic and complicated, heavier and intense. A more serious and professional attitude towards the music surfaced and intelligent songwriting became the most important factor. Spring 2000 - the 'Milkshake' is scrapped. More songs are written, and every song is getting darker and heavier than before. Marcel joins the band. Brainshake, once known as an alternative punk band, has now turned into the heavy but emotional crossover band it is today, and although the influences of bands who inspired them are obvious, they accomplished to master a very distinctive sound, crossing borders of many musical influences. Now, after the release of their demo 'Silicon King', recorded and mixed in only three days, Brainshake is what Brainshake's supposed to be: heavy, furieus, angry, but also emotional and beautiful.Loek playing the drums with pounding, inventive grooves, Marcel and Pim testing their guitars and abilities to come up with the craziest riffs and sounds to the limit, Philippe picking the bass with heart and soul and Eric, pushing the boundaries of his voice singing, screaming, whispering and growling. This is Brainshake. Come check their intense live performances and get ready for a headache. |
