Artist History
GLENN LOWE (lead vocals, guitar)
The 12 string acoustic guitar provides the foundation to Highway One's truly unique sound, played by singer/songwriter Glenn Lowe. A native of the Bay Area, Glenn grew up listening to the intricate compositions of Leo Kottke and modeled his songwriting after pop artist greats like Sting, Bruce Hornsby, and saxophonist David Sanborn.
Glenn received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art at UC Berkeley and spent several years of his life writing much of Highway One's material while living in Austin, Texas.
MATTHIAS D'AUTREMONT (drums)
The percussive flavorings of Highway One are provided by a former Musician's Institute graduate, Matthias D'Autremont. A fourteen year veteran on the drums, D'Autremont grew up in Hawaii, listening to reggae, rock and jazz. "One of my greatest experiences was touring with a band in the far east", he says. "The people were very generous, even though they didn't always have much to give, and I really learned a lot."
ED GOGUEN (bass)
Ed Goguen has been playing bass guitar and singing since age thirteen. His music helped pay for his college education in New York State, and he later toured with a show band playing at resorts in the Adirondacks, Catskills and Pocono mountains.
Ed continued playing music with local bands in San Diego, and since moving to San Jose has been involved in a recording project with another local Bay Area artist, before bringing his talents to Highway One.
AL LAZARD (sax)
Al learned saxophone in the town that knows jazz, New Orleans. His energetic version of jazz classics like "Footprints" gives Highway One the soulful, pop-jazz flavor that you never get tired of hearing.
Al's son, Armando, is already one of Highway One's best fans ... thanks, Armando, keep singing them tunes out loud! |
