Additional Info WHAT IS SYNTHPOP? Put simply enough: Pop music played on synthesizers. As a general rule, the genre emphasizes strong vocal melody, catchy lyrics and melody, and is predominantly electronic. It doesn't have to be 100% electronic, but the electronics should be prominent. Put simply, the emphasis is on melody and vocals, more so than the other electronic genres. In most dance-oriented electronica, the emphasis is less on melody and lead vocals (apart from the occasional vox sample or repeated riff) and more on the electronics, the instrumentation.
