Press Reviews
All Marc Sidoreus, formerly of the band Childlyke, ever wanted was to play guitar like Pete Townsend (complete with windmills) and write songs like Evan Dando. While he admits that making a living off of his music wouldn't be a terrible position to be in, he hopes to never be "bigger than Sonic Youth."
To talk only about his recorded gems would be unfair, as those who have seen him perform live know, the real meat of Sirdoreus' music comes into light on stage. The witty commentary between songs -- which occasionally surface during them -- paints an entirely different kind of backdrop for the sarcastic, and sometimes smutty, jabs he takes both at himself and others.
Often finding inspiration in those of the opposite sex, he questions his appeal in "Why Don't Girls Like Me?" and spells out a stalker confessional to the redheaded siren from TV's "That '70s Show" ("Laura, I Need Medicine"). But he also brings out a softer, more fragile side in songs like "Well-Fucked Sailor," a heart-wrenching tale about his last long-term relationship.
Whatever he does, though, Marc with a C doesn't take himself seriously. The combination of both his candid and fragile sides make his fans do it for him. As for the rest of the world, Sirdoreus says, "I just want to be able to tell my grandchildren about the time I made an entire town take notice of me."
