Artist History The real beginning I don’t think anybody knows. But what we all remember is the 27th of march 2000 and this only because Beavis (the drummer boy) have posted this date in his diary as the day he joined the group. This was the first day, the day we put ourselves to work. A rehearsal room with a BAD acoustical environment, some instruments that will receive a compliment if I will say “second hand stuff ” and the will of doing some rock. Maybe the best instrument belonged to Jan (guitarist). Anyway, bad instruments couldn’t stop them. April … very late … 2 - 2.30 … Doru (vocals) in his room with the guitar (always) by his side, few chords, some lyrics and then the big smile of a happy child. The first song was born. “Despre o tipa”. The first single and one of the songs taped on the demo that convinced the guys from Transglobal Music/ EMI-Virgin Romania to sign with the band in June. August 2000. First big gig! Two months later they are already in the studio. Because the recording room is not having a sound proof they are forced to record only late at night when the offices inside the building are empty. Cristina (guitar) is joining the band. She is the newcomer, write at the right time. Good ideas, good guitar, good girl and a car that will ride with the band all over the country. A very old red BMW with an audio system that worth more than the car itself. November 2000. All the work is now on a disk called Toxic and the11-th of November was established the day of release. The crowd is a bit confused about the look of the band. Doru is having a make up and walking in a long skirt, Cristina first of all is a girl in a boys band and then she is having dread locks. The others are having strange and (de)colored haircuts. All in all are ab4. Bogdan (bass) is full of surprises. He comes with a brand new bass guitar that will replace the worst instrument I ever saw. The “rock market” will receive them fast and well. January 2001. The second video is released (“Cum ar fi?”). Soon after that the band is in a project with another group. A featuring idea that was not so well accepted at first. ab4 & Verdik (a well known hip-hop band but very controversial by the genre consumers). The name of this brand-new song: “Nu-ti fa griji” it will soon become the third single that will put another brick for their musical career. The tensions with Jan are growing and soon he will leave the band, making place for Enrico D’Angelosante. A guy with lot of talent that will turn the girls crazy. For his arrival Cristina is responsible as they have met in Italy few years ago at the time when she was concerting around Italy with the girls from Secret (her band). “Hol” will be the next single and the most loved. And also the best video they’ve made until then (directed by Tudor Giurgiu). Especially for this song the band will soon release a new (acoustic) version. This will be the last single from this LP as they are now working for the next material. And everybody is waiting for it…

Press Reviews MATCH MUSIC TV - ITALY Venerd� 9 febbraio 2001 BY CORSO SALANI: E IL CINEMA MITTELEUROPEO Italia e Romania: due Paesi vicini non soltanto nella lingua, che per entrambe deriva dal latino, ma anche nel cinema e nella musica. Questa nuova puntata di Match Movie ci ha proiettato fino all'estrema Europa dell'Est: un viaggio di andata e ritorno con la Romania in compagnia di un regista che conosce benissimo questa rotta, Corso Salani. Regista di film e documentari, Corso Salani lo conosciamo anche come attore - non soltanto dei suoi film - ma di opere note quali "Il muro di gomma" di Marco Risi (del '91) e "La fine � nota" di Cristina Comencini (del '92). L'ultimo film di Corso Salani, intitolato "Occidente", inizia con delle immagini molto intense e realistiche che il regista ha girato in Romania all'indomani della rivoluzione dell'89 che ha abbattuto il dittatore Ceaucescu, estratte da un documentario realizzato a caldo… Italiano, inglese, rumeno, dialetti vari: sono tanti e diversi gli idiomi che si ascoltano nel suo film, una babele linguistica che tende quasi a sottolineare le mille culture diverse che compongono questa nostra Europa, la quale, soltanto di recente � stata "unita" sotto il profilo economico e parzialmente sotto quello politico. Il film � ambientato non casualmente nella base aerea di Aviano, che � territorio degli Stati Uniti malgrado si trovi nei confini italiani, simbolo dell'incontro di tante culture diverse. Macchina da presa a spalla, linguaggio scarno, lunghe inquadrature in movimento, montaggio ridotto al minimo, fotografia non leccata e documentaristica: � questo lo stile di Corso Salani, cifra stilistica di una possibile identit� del cinema europeo, in risposta alla magniloquenza del cinema hollywoodiano.Il personaggio che interpreta nel film � ancora una volta un timido, una persona comune dalla sensibilit� a fior di pelle, ma anche un indeciso, un irresoluto, almeno fino alla svolta finale: in un cinema odierno popolato di eroi all'americana e giovani scanzonati alla Vanzina, decisamente un personaggio controtendenza. In campo cinematografico il giovane talento rumeno pi� promettente � certamente Nae Caranf�l, il quale lo scorso anno ha anche realizzato un film in Italia, "Dolce far niente". Caranfil lavora quasi sempre con produzioni francesi, come il connazionale ben pi� noto Pintil�e; l'opera che ha rivelato il talento di Caranf�l � stata "Asfalt Tango", film on the road di corrosivo sarcasmo sulla Romania post-comunista e sui rischi che corrono le fanciulle nelle mani di loschi faccendieri. L'opera � inedita in Italia, ma noi ne abbiamo mostrato uno spezzone in lingua originale, in esclusiva assoluta. Nella colonna sonora di "Asfalt Tango" compare il "Va pensiero" di Giuseppe Verdi, a testimonianza ancora una volta dello stretto legame che intercorre tra la cultura italianae e quella rumena. Cambiando invece genere musicale, il rock in Romania � arrivato soltanto dopo la caduta del muro di Berlino. In Italia negli scorsi anni abbiamo conosciuto un particolarissimo gruppo rock rumeno, composto interamente al femminile, le Secret, che dopo essersi formate in gran segreto per sfuggire al regime di Ceaucescu, hanno successivamente pubblicato un disco per l'etichetta italiana Compagnia delle Nuove Indie. Oggi quel gruppo si � sciolto ma la sua mente creativa, la chitarrista Cristina Puia Dan, � ancora sulla cresta dell'onda con un nuovo progetto rock, il gruppo giovanissimo degli AB4 (a - be - patru) di cui abbiamo ascoltato il nuovo singolo in esclusiva assoluta per gentile concessione dell'emittente rumena Antena 1.
