Artist History
on the 21st day of December of 2000, five young lads and a girl drummer gave the unsuspecting beer-drinking audience a dose of hybrid metal inside an obscure disco pub in San Pablo, Laguna. The rest was history...
Valley of Chrome is the product of growing up with too much metal along with a common love for punk and hardcore. Heavy, energetic and refusing to be labeled only as a hardcore band, Valley of Chrome's music could be referred to as a melting pot of different styles from old school to new school. Taking cues from bands like Snapcase, Megadeth, In Flames, All Out War, Guns N' Roses, Boy Sets Fire, Integrity, Metallica, Iron Maiden and others you wouldn't want to know-V.O.C. has managed to develop a style that couldn't be pigeonholed and stereotyped. What sets the band apart from the bands of today is their positivity and substance in the lyrics and an 80's metal flavor ready to conjure images of spandex and mullets (hehe)...
So far, the band has put out 2 demos. The first one, entitled "Beyond Definition", was released last May of 2001. Then, the follow-up, "Transparent", was released in November of 2001. And recently, the band has recorded a new 5 song CD EP, "Anthems for the Sellout Youth", showing a heavier, yet melodic direction.
Our memorable shows to date are: On Til Midnight (College of Benilde, Feb. 2002), Inner Space (March 2001), PULP Teachers' Creatures (UPLB, Sept. 2001), No Seat Affair (Freedom Bar, Feb. 2002), NU107 Summer Shebang 2002 (where the band got an overwhelming response from the crowd), and recent gigs with COG, Chicosci, Greyhoundz and Slapshock. Aside from these, we have played in numerous underground gigs (mostly held in Laguna, Cavite and the Quezon province). V.O.C. has also appeared on UNTV's In The Raw last March of 2002. Valley of Chrome is ready to bring their music to a higher level.
