Ladies and gentleman, peel back your earlobes. What you are about to hear is both familiar and strange, the hybrid now known collectively as TelleR. Casey Shea, both fearless leader and chief instigator, fronts this ragtag army of miscreants and musical deviants. Shea’s partner and minister of musical mayhem, Matt Raitz, provides the backdrop from which the TelleR sound emanates. Aaron Hatmaker, known in many galaxies as a master prognosticator, holds watch over all sonic underpinnings, or as earthlings call it, bass. Rounding out the madness is an unknown guitar player who blasts out in wild flourishes, causing many to question the meaning of their own existence.
TelleR is “controlled chaos.” Existentialism, death, seduction, fear, longing, depravity, and urban decay make up their debut release. "Late night sessions, impromptu nights of zero sleep, people coming in and out, mayhem everywhere, that's how this was made!" Shea exclaims, pounding his fist on the table. A calmer Raitz adds, “the majority of time was used making sure the planets were properly aligned and that the cosmos were in place, continuing only once we could all envision the venomous snakes on the head of a young medusa.”
The tortured sound of a guitar's neck being thoroughly wrung is a sound that has been lost in the present society of nothingness. "We declare the rebirth of the guitar, no longer will it lie in wait," pronounces Shea. "To know beauty is to understand chaos. We will unleash it upon the masses. Bring us your tired, your weak, your immaculately stoned and lost. For it is for you that we exist; yes, we are the light, and we are you. In our rebirth of the fire, there will grow a billion followers and converts. The wayward sound of the serpent’s dance, yes Virginia, there is a guitar solo.”
Performances, or “pieces,” are each unique and varied, yet consistently devastating. Energy and light emanate off the stage like beams of molten lava. Sounds careen, swirling around in a haze of smoke and swagger. Sweat flies through the air like fluids in some ancient bacchanalian orgy. Fans are both fervent and rabid. Like savages in ritual, all manner of deviants come together to form a mass of flesh surrounding the stage. Time stands still yet somehow progresses. Fury is unleashed and absorbed. Stand back or risk being lost.
Make no mistake; the band is both sinner and saint. A stately combination of both demon and angel, TelleR provides the soundtrack, for The Rise and The Fall. Stand at attention; the flag is unfurling. It is festooned with ornaments and accompanied by a ceremonial beating of the drums. Come stand before it, and marvel at its brilliance.
