Artist History
Old school tone, Old school attitude, and above all Old school songwriting. Heavy Blue was formed in the early 90's by guitarist Ron Carbone and bassist Mike Ryan. In a sea of "grunge" and rap, Carbone set out to establish a unique blend of loud rock guitar with his intense knowledge of music theory. After hearing the beginning "riffs" that Carbone had developed Ryan took rough copies and went to work developing the songs that would become time tested anthems. Enter Paul James. Paul has always been a legendary local blues singer in and around upstate NY. Mike and Paul have played together in many different situations, but never in a "hard rock" environment. After hearing Paul sing to these particular songs it was clear that magic was in the air. Ron worked with drummer Jimmy Lee to focus in on the rhythm structures and fine tune his well crafted songs, while Mike and Paul worked on lyrics and harmonies. When all the pieces came together it was truly magical. After recording with legendary producer Bob Aquaviva the music took on a life of it's own. What you will hear is a blend of musicians that have, and always will ,stand the test of time. We give you............Heavy Blue. |
