Artist History GALI is a singer/songwriter who is as unique as her name. Growing up in Toronto, Canada she started performing at the age of five and wrote her first song at the age of eight. Her early endeavors included: music festivals, talent contests, and variety shows. In 2000, Gali caught the attention of producer/songwriter Norm Sabourin and together they started work on her first CD with the collaboration of singer/songwriter Philip David Francis. After two years GALI's CD has now been released. This self-titled album explores different styles of music from pop/dance to Latin and combines electric and acoustic guitar with Dance, Pop, and Disco rhythms. Her unique vocal skills lend wonderfully to her emotional expression and musical interpretation. GALI's hard work and love for the craft are evident within each track as she captivates the listener with her signature voice, edge and heightened sense of passion. GALI's eclectic musical renderings are abundant throughout the CD. 'I Surrender' is the first track and is built upon Spanish undertones with a soft Pop rhythm. It explores the passionate expression of a woman desiring a man sexually and not being afraid to pursue it. Next we come to 'Piece of Heaven'. Again, the Spanish influences are evident especially in the feel of the acoustic guitar. This song speaks about giving yourself completely. In 'Don't Be Afraid To Love Me' she captures raw emotion and attitude with her edgy, groove oriented sound. This song suggests that a person should not be afraid to look inside the other and experience them completely and not be intimidated by what they find. 'Let Me Be Your Angel' is an up-tempo tune with a New Age feel to it. It talks about loving a person so much that you want to be able to look after them completely be their angel. ''Til I Found You' is a sensual provoking ballad that delivers a message of love and devotion. 'I'm in Paradise' is a pure dance anthem. This is a good times tune that talks about truly enjoying the company of another. 'Follow Your Heart' is mainly freestyle song with a Spanish rhythm. Its message is being true to yourself and following what you believe. 'Only Love' is a moving ballad with a Spanish vibe. It deals with a person who is undergoing major changes in their life and suggests that what the person needs to pull through is love and all that love encompasses. 'Star in Heaven' is the last song on the CD and is an intimate and relatively simple piece. It speaks about dealing with death in a positive fashion. Each of GALI's songs has a different ring to it that keeps the listener interested. There have been many influences and inspirations that have helped to create GALI's sound. Her mixed European background coupled with the ethnic surroundings that she was brought up in was an early catalyst to her unique style. Furthermore, as a child GALI grew up listening to a wide array of musical styles. Among these styles were: Rock & Roll, Soft and Classic Rock, Pop, Eastern European, Latin, and Middle Eastern music. In her own words, GALI describes her musical experience as follows: "I always knew that this is what I had to do. When I was really young, I remember standing in front of the mirror like it was a stage singing at the top of my lungs visualizing thousands of people surrounding me. This dream has always kept me moving forward. I have always felt that I have had something to give and music has been the vessel that has allowed me to do so. Clearly, music has always been an integral part of my life. It has, at times, been therapy to me but has always filled my heart with joy and has completed that sense of belonging that we all desire. Musically, I have been into anything sensual, sophisticated and funk-fortified. Many artists and styles have inspired and influenced me. Elvis Presley has had the greatest impact on me and has touched my heart in every possible way. He proved to the world what real music and artistic expression is all about. He made me realize that it takes an enormous amount of creativity, love, hard work, dedication, charisma, perseverance, sincerity, sensitivity and proficiency to be an artist." GALI also adds: "I love writing! I am inspired to do so when I feel happy, sad, lost, lonely, insecure or frustrated. My pain often fuels my passion but more often my spirit is what moves me. I want to inspire people but not in a cheap way. There is an artist in me that can see beauty everywhere I go and I want to share that beauty with others. I've always been in awe of nature, animals and the simplicity that life has to offer. I was born to sing and create music that emotionally connects with others and to document the way that I see the world and the experiences it has given me." It is GALI's distinctive voice, strength of character, and down to earth personality that makes her so charming and unique. Her sensual approach to ballads, uplifting melodies, and her true artistic expression win universal appeal that elevates her to new heights across the musical spectrum.
