Artist History
After capturing the attention of thousands of fans in the Southeast with their explosive stage show, Deep Shag is now capturing the attention of music industry professionals. Keeping up an intense tour schedule of over 200 shows a year for the last 2 years the band insists on bringing it’s music to the fans. With the release of their debut CD entitled Rug Burn on their own label, Royal Subterranean, they have begun to break new territories including Texas, the Mid West, and dates on the East Coast. Deep Shag has shared the stage with numerous national recording artists including Everclear, Maroon 5, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Warrant, The Georgia Satellites, and more. In 2003 they will also be performing some supporting dates for the legendary Parliament Funkadelic, of which Funk Guru George Clinton provided 2 cameos for Rug Burn. Recently the band was honored by having their song “I’d Rather Make Out” picked out of 1200 entrants by music industry professionals to be included on Disc Makers Independent Music World Series “ Southeast Heavy Hitters” CD/ROM Compilation. The CD will be distributed nationally to thousands of radio stations and music professionals. Deep Shag’s sound, which they refer to as “modern groove rock”, blends the pure element’s of many influences from 70’s Hard Rock, Pop, and R&B to create a sound that may be hard to classify, but is undoubtedly groundbreaking and fresh, yet somehow familiar. There is no doubt that the common thread to all of the music are the vocals of Manda Marsh. She will not only convince you, but command you with her powerful emotional effect and aggressive vocal style. |
