Artist History
I grew up playing classical flute, yet I felt trapped in what I thought was an antiquated medium. Later this dissatisfaction led me to jazz and improvisational music. Eventaually, I abandoned my musical studies, having found no ultimate style for what I was hearing in my head.
I could not stay away from the arts for long, and in need of another creative outlet I started dancing. I found that even during the years I was "not doing music" I wrote over 50 songs. During this time I also taught myself guitar and piano.
My school has always really been my music collection. I study album after album, the way a music lover does: absorb it like breathing, analyze its structure, let it steep like tea, move through me, and then respond.
Lately I have found voice to my songs in the merging of electronic soundscapes, folk guitar, and funk beats. I am very thankful to be moving closer to my dream of making music morning, noon, and night and getting paid for it. |

Press Reviews
B's new album, Just Be is the product of two years of diligence and ingenuity; evidence of his hard work is apparent. As I listen to it while writing this, I am carried along it's pleasing harmonies: calmed and yet, encouraged. Brett's music is the union of wonder and majesty. It resonates within me long after I've turned it off and wandered away. It has a way of returning to your mind, not in that annoying "GET THE BLAHG OUT OF MY HEAD!!" way, but in that reminding, "Oh yeah, Life is actually pretty cool" way. For me, Brett's music is a foundation of good, pure work. He's managed to create something that is separate from mainstream "churned-out-multi-million-dollar-deal" music. In that way, it has a certain innocence and simplicity. Yet, there is nothing innocent or simple about it. Maybe you will think these things when you hear it, maybe you'll think something else. Funny thing about dreams, they're different for everyone, but maybe, before crossing into that darkness, we'll find ourselves on the threshold. - S.A. Vignola |
