Artist History
Formed about three years ago, the WPP has faced many line-up changes. At birth, the WPP was a seven piece coffehouse rock band sounding similar to bands such as matchbox twenty and the counting crows. Today that line-up is narrowed down to four with songs that range from full-on, rock your socks off Rock N Roll, to laid-back ballads. |

Press Reviews
CBN.com -
Aaron Greer is in the Witness Protection Program, but he hasn’t seen a crime. He never testified in court. Greer does a different type of testifying. He plays lead guitar and contributes vocals to the Pittsburgh-area Christian rock band, The Witness Protection Program (WPP).
Since forming in 1998, the WPP (Greer, Jeff Keys, Kyle Greene, and Jeromy Rowe) has come a long way, recently releasing their debut CD, "Bigger Than That." Since Greer is a graphic designer, "Bigger Than That" is packaged in a slick, professional way. The CD booklet is a stunningly cool work of art, with attractive graphics and eye-catching layout. Besides looking good, "Bigger Than That" sounds good too. "Bigger Than That" starts out with little kids innocently singing an excerpt of "This Little Light of Mine," immediately followed by the fast, frenzied sounds of "The Light Is Alive." That sk8er-kid sound continues on "Big Love," which gets your head bobbing to the beat. Much of "Bigger Than That" sounds like a mix between 80s new wave melded with arena rock and a late 90s ska-punk sound. The WPP has an eclectic sound.
Though much of "Bigger Than That" focuses on intense rock songs, the disc’s ballads set it apart from other rock discs released today. The delicate "Crimson Stain" surprises the listener with its toned-down, though elaborate, piano playing and heartfelt lyrics sung with conviction. "One Way To Love" comes off sounding like top-of-the-charts alt-country. As a man’s wistful ode to lost love, the honest lyrics are highlighted by the band’s well-blended vocal harmonies.
The WPP’s solid musicianship and original material is taking them places. They recently won the Kingdom Bound Music Festival talent search in Upstate New York. That’s a major accomplishment, done in front of thousands of music fans and important judges. The band recently played gigs in Nashville and discussed future plans with industry veterans there. Could a major label deal be on the horizon? Perhaps you will be hearing the WPP mentioned in the same sentence as Jars of Clay, The Supertones and Audio Adrenaline.
